Delete Your VaultChat Account
VaultChat is a private end-to-end encrypted messaging app from AUXXILUS MEDIA LLC. We respect your right to delete your account and your data at any time. There are two ways to do it.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)
- Open VaultChat
- Tap Settings (gear icon, top-right of the chats list)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm
Your account, profile, @handle, encryption keys, encrypted server backup, folders, chat preferences, block list, cached contacts, and authentication record are removed immediately.
Option 2 — Request deletion via email (no app required)
If you can't access the app, email us at privacy@vaultchat.co with the subject line "Delete My Account" and include either your phone number or your @handle so we can identify your account. We confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving your request.
What gets deleted
- Your profile, @handle, and display name
- Your public encryption key
- Your encrypted message history backup (if you had one enabled)
- Push notification tokens
- Folders, chat preferences, block list
- Cached contacts and authentication record
What stays after deletion
- Messages you sent to other people remain on their devices. Because VaultChat is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot reach into someone else's phone to delete a message we never had access to.
- Anonymized aggregate metrics that don't identify you personally (for example, "5,000 active users last week").
- Records we're legally required to keep — for example, safety reports filed under federal child-protection law (NCMEC reports). These are retained for the period required by law and no longer.
